Was actually in Zurich at the start of the year and went on a tour. At the end , we asked for food recommendations, and after the guide listed off 4-5 options we said we'd already had lots of cheese and was there anything else? She paused, thought, and said "maybe sausage?"

Ahah indeed that is the way it is there. A tiny mountainous country is not the best craddle for a diverse food culture to thrive. Until recently, it called for food with a long shelf life to endure isolation and long winters. Like cheese or smoked sausages. It all make sense.
