What this means is that we need a safe and effective vaccine that doesn't entrench health inequality in the country If that can be done, then absolutely it should be mandatory

Will we have enough doses for it to be mandatory? Should nursing homes and health care providers be prioritised for the doses we do have?

People treat this issue politically (i.e. 70% support unequivocally so no brainer) instead of as policy (i.e. majority not enough for herd immunity - it only takes alienating 10% to ruin for everyone, mandates erode trust in public health and amplify impact of fringe voices)

With voluntary vaccination and incentives-based policy Australia achieves vaccination rates higher than many countries with mandates. It's an incredible public health success story we don't acknowledge near enough because people in politics & media like to politicise vaccination
