In actual fact, the science is nuanced, and can't easily be summed up as either pro OR anti. When I last wrote about the science of masking, I spent >3,000 words saying that no one is absolutely sure about anything

In epidemiology, this sort of debate is very common (and a good thing!) It's rare that you can look at a complex situation using observational evidence and come out with an easy answer

The reality is that the answer to many questions - even ones we desperately need to answer - is not A or B, but "it depends..."
