This gets to the crux of the problem. Should scientists use their terms (jargon) and laypeople try to understand those? I would vote for less focus on particular words, more on descriptive analogies and scenarios. Images, videos, etc. to help the public understand.

I've always felt that the biggest part of scicomm is exactly that - translating the jargon with specific meanings into something that everyone can understand
