And for the record, I find the attitude of physical scientists here very frustrating. It's not just a simple debate over semantics, saying the virus is airborne changes pretty much everything about the response to COVID-19!

I was a bit shocked to see this is an NYT journalist. It’s their job to understand and communicate difficult ideas in ways people can understand. If experts want to make clear that words have specific meanings, it’s the journo’s job to convey that. Not to change the science.
