Yes. If you can get enough plasma to treat 35 THOUSAND people, you can generate a randomization schedule and run a trial on 1/10th of that number (which would be enough for a pretty definitive conclusion!)

This study just doesn't tell us anything important. Without a comparison group or randomisation all you've got is some associations

No reason other than political! To measure safety, but not effectiveness(which they did record, but not report) is criminal. A family member was in this study and cured in less than 12 hours after a 55 day battle. It works!
