If you believe the government or hospital managers when they claim most healthcare workers are being infected with COVID-19 in the community, watch and listen to Prof Raina MacIntyre from ~26 to 34 minutes in this @TheRACP webinarhttps://youtu.be/W8KrIwokYu8?t=1574 …

Uh, pretty big issue there - the majority of clinical support staff (i.e. kitchen, laundry, cleaning etc) are not registered with AHPRA but are still usually classed as "healthcare workers"

The analysis probably misses aged care workers, but I'm not sure clinical support staff are included in the DHHS reporting of HCW infections. DHHS reporting of HCW infections still far too opaque. See tweets by @healthcare_19

Well, once upon a time I worked in hospital finance/reporting and I'd be surprised if HCWs doesn't include a large proportion of non-AHPRA registered staff even within hospitals i.e. AINs, student nurses/midwives as just two examples

Yes, would be really good to know what exactly is included. See this tweet from @Dana_Adelehttps://twitter.com/Dana_Adele/status/1285788803156733952 …

... DHHS said their tally of HCW infections includes doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, allied health, aged care workers, but not ward clerks, receptionists, cleaners or disability support workers. They didn't offer any explanation as to why only some workers are counted.

My thinking is that DHHS either don't have the data for a broader definition, or don't want the number to look higher than it already is, or both.

Could be. Either way, makes the odds ratios presented there problematic, because the denominator is wrong

Conclusion: Healthcare workers have been **4.37 times** more likely to contract COVID in the last month than non-HCW using the DHHS criteria. Tell me again we're not contracting this through our work pic.twitter.com/kBl31dwAiM
