The ongoing politicisation of hydroxychloroquine continues to amaze IT IS JUST A DRUG. IT PROBABLY DOESN'T WORK FOR COVID. IT'S NOT ABOUT LEFT VS RIGHT

Yeah, but I have a friend with Sjogrens, and it sure as heck does her a lot of good. Would certainly be nice if people who need it for things it DOES work for could get it.

Your are showing your lack of Right-ness. A couple of right wing Australians I know are convinced HCQ works. It's a right wing thing, so saying it doesn't work is an anti-right = "left wing" thing.

That's interesting, how does this translate to Australian politics? Does the right wing there copy american right wing views? Is the internal covid debate along party lines?

There seems to be a shift on to Ivermectin in right-wing and conspiracy circles, courtesy of this Sky interview with Professor Thomas Borody: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=582241349325548 … Would be good to see some ‘straight’ takes on the current science/trials given the hype growing around this.

Thus far I'm not aware of any even moderately good trials run on ivermectin, so I'm not sure how anyone could conclude much at all about it tbh

It’s about money, not hydroxychloroquine. If the same ‘friends’ and donors of the same politicians spouting it had bought into Aspirin, the same politicians would be telling people to take Aspirin for Covid.

Does anybody know for sure that Borody is right wing? His track record is as strong as can get in developing drugs. And there is logic to designing flexible quick and dirty trials during a pandemic for existing drugs. If the efficacy is strong as reported it should show quickly.

The "debate" on HCQ has done an enormous amount of damage to the public understanding of how good science is done.
