it does initially defy common sense, but given the evidence and explanation, a common sense person can accept the new perspective. otoh if there's evidence and explanation for not doing covid testing then i haven't heard anything that makes sense yet.

Basically I would agree. But what shall be done when it's a new situation and evidence cannot be expected, but the outcome of doing nothing is at least somewhat predictable? Some of these eastern-asian countries got affected quite early on...

But they reacted - with different tools very quickly and quite successfully. So obviously they used what they thought what would help (Taiwan with a/c and immediate masks, South Korea with lots of testing and contact tracing)

I.E, do som proper studies on masks. There are already examples of masked being mandatory with the reasoning that you then can decrease the physical distancing measures and still be safe
