Turns out that actually, population screening has harms, tests aren't perfect, and if you screen everyone even if they have a low risk of disease you often end up harming more than you help!

There are countless examples of this, which is why you can't just assume that something works - you have to test it first Otherwise, you're just flying blind

Science full stop tbh. Like Dr Karl says in science there is always an explanation that fits the data 100% and makes 100% sense and is 100% wrong.

Ditto in social science and mental health. "Common sense" is just filling in from our standard cultural narratives. Sometimes that works fine. Sometimes it doesn't.
