Always fascinating to watch people discuss risks like this in the abstract, but is Adam offering himself and his family up for low, low 1 in 20 (or 1 in 700) risk?https://twitter.com/Adam_Creighton/status/1290139992027623424 …

How about this @Adam_Creighton - list 20 friends and family in your life over 65 years. I'm sure you can think of them Tell me, or better yet tell them, which one is for the cutting block

It’s also fascinating to see people ignore all of the other covid issues besides death. Hospitalization, long covid, etc

You are missing the point. They are not saying any people should let be exposed to that risk. It's not like lockdown brings this risk to 0 and no lockdown exposes given risk to you family or anyone. Lockdown does not even make a big difference to these tiny risks.

They are saying exactly that. With no control, the virus spreads, and infects most people of all age groups

How much do those odds change if there's no room in the hospital? And how long do you have to hang out at R=1 with full hospitals to avoid that (with restrictions on non-covid healthcare causing excess deaths up until that point)?

My cousin died this morning from covid. Don't ask me about underlying conditions. He died FROM COVID. People who do mental gymnastics to downplay this pandemic and make it a political issue deserve a slap in the mouth. (Don't slap anyone) #WearAMask

Pretty much for all ages getting coronavirus is equivalent to 100% of all cause mortality. Yeah, older people are more likely to be critically ill if they were to get COVID though young adults are much less likely to have some other loss of life

And completely ignoring other possible risks (as if death was the only bad outcome). So many people think it's necessarily just a little cold for those who do not die.

not to mention that this stats is not even that relevant, it’s not a black/white outcome, you might be/remain sick without dying and still feel terrible and have your life messed up completely
