Irrespective of your position on masks, it's worth noting that a lot of the research that has been promoted around the world is really bad and says nothing about masks

But they insert the mind control vaccine into your nostrils and then Bill Gates will track your every move. You have to take that into consideration.

Do they collect data about the situation when someone got infected if he and/or the other wore a mask? That would be interesting - because all infections which happened when not both wore a mask need to be taken out.

Reminds me on this study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2662657/ … Basically their conclusion: Masks work, but as adherence is low they probably do not work. Which is IMO a strange conclusion. Should rather be: Masks probably work, but only when ppl. actually wear them.

This is what
@mtosterholm at@CIDRAP argues we should keep in mind. He frequently compares it to the time he put up a sign in his yard that said "ABSOLUTELY NO ELEPHANTS ALLOWED!" --- the sign has had remarkable success. Not a single elephant has been in yard since sign went up!Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Yes. Analysis of 41 countries found reductions for: “mandating mask-wearing in (some) public spaces (2%; 95% CI: -14%-16%), limiting gatherings to 1000 people or less (2%; -20%-22%), to 100 people or less (21%; 1%-39%), to 10 people or less (36%; 16%-53%)”https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.28.20116129v3 …

So this suggests effect of masks is rather minor compared to other NPI, no?

It's a striking failure of how we decide what gets studied. Are masks just too boring? Even before this pandemic, we should long ago have known exactly which kinds of masks work, for which diseases, and how well. Where are the randomized controlled trials of that?
-
If the studies aren't happening right now it's also a big missed opportunity. Presumably it's happening?
