Also, we need enough tests and people need to be willing to get the test done. There are quite a few barriers/hurdles to address to make progress and real change to our culture.

This is probably mutually exclusive with a >5 day results turn around. If we're being realistic.

This is the problem. If we did it early on, when test results took 2-3 days, sure. Test results now take > 14 days. Nobody can afford to self-isolate for 14 days every few weeks. Once cold and flu season starts, we’re screwed.

Had a fever/headache for one day. Primary did not test. Told to monitor symptoms & report any worsening or new symtoms (after 24 hours I had none) but isolate for 10 days. Eventho I most likely didn't have Covud19 out of an abundance of caution I am isolating.

It blows my mind that anyone waiting for test results would not self isolate. It is both selfish and idiotic. I have smart caring friends who have done this. I don’t get it.

Many Americans who still have jobs could lose them or not get paid if we did that.

Aah, Gid, if it only were that simple. First, we would have to convince 40% or so of our citizens that this isn’t the flu. It’s that “messenging” part of pandemic response we can’t seem to get right.

It's not just the messenging that's the problem, it's the messengers. The American people have extremely low faith in government and almost the entire population doesn't trust the media. So when they say something scary is happening, many people wonder if they're lying.
