It is truly bizarre that people think factual statements about drugs are a political stance. I could care less what politicians think about which drugs are better - I care what the studies say

It's a typical left-wing bias to think they are on the side of science. Richard Horton from the Lancet is an example. You are another lesser-known

That's just a nonsense statement. And I could care less about the Lancet either, what a ridiculous straw man

Lol, I could also care less about what nonsense American politicians come up with. If you've got some evidence that I'm incorrect, feel free to link it, but as far as I can tell you're just wrong

I disagree that it's special. There a several drugs with low side effect profiles that have been tested for COVID-19. But really all of this is immaterial because if it doesn't work - which, as you agree, is unlikely - then it doesn't really matter anyway

Also, the main reason I didn't reply to your thread is that it is something of a straw man. The context here is crucial-people aren't just claiming that HCQ might moderately reduce symptoms of COVID-19 if taken prophylactically, they are claiming that it is a cure

This isn't a fringe belief, it has been promoted literally yesterday by the President of the US. And in my article, I correctly pointed out that the main remaining question is whether there is some possibility that prophylactic HCQ may have some benefit (if unlikely)

So I'm not sure I see why you'd call my summary "false", but as far as I can tell we agree on the major points

The useful thing I learnt from @jwato_watson's thread that I didn't pick up in the original article was the Boulware et al stuides being very low powered.
