The idea of sugar 'addiction' is, quite simply, wrong Simple reason - it is a misunderstanding of the term, and mischaracterizes the psychological impacts of addictive behaviourshttps://twitter.com/jen_unwin/status/1287778122306289664 …

Either we redefine addiction to be so broad as to include almost any behaviour that we'd like to do less (sitting 'addiction' anyone?) or we recognize that sugar isn't 'addictive' in the technical or colloquial sense, it's a different kind of problem
I haven’t heard about many incidents of nicotine addiction related thefts either.
That seems disingenuous - are you confusing severity with category? Nicotine addiction does not readily induce this behaviour, nor antidepressants. It might be modulated by things such as a well regulated and affordable supply, and the level of disorder induced by the addiction.
We’re also happy to discuss addictive behaviours that are entirely non-physiological and unable to induce this, such as an addiction to a computer game you already own - such that you only need electricity to indulge, and have perhaps no destructive outcome.
