A superb overview of mask discussion:
"The danger posed by the mask discourse is distraction. A distraction from what we already know, with certainty, about the virus and how it is passed on." @MackayIM @EpiElliehttps://twitter.com/engagedpractx/status/1285768841411215361 …

I think it’s misleading for
@engagedpractx to present this is an either-or. We need to focus on ALL means of controlling the epidemic, and there IS evidence that masks can help: https://gh.bmj.com/content/bmjgh/5/5/e002794.full.pdf … https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0843-2 … https://www.healthaffairs.org/doi/10.1377/hlthaff.2020.00818 … https://aip.scitation.org/doi/pdf/10.1063/5.0016018 …2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -
Replying to @NuritBaytch @MackayIM and
I don't think it was an either/or at all in the article. It's more that masks aren't ~the~ solution even if they may be one aspect of a solution, and the debate about them is often unhelpful

Saying that “promot[ing] correct and consistent mask use comes with an opportunity cost” is an either-or argument, in my opinion: And
@engagedpractx didn’t mention any of the evidence I included in my tweet.pic.twitter.com/5sQgQqDlBO

Nah I think that's just how these things work. Every intervention comes with an opportunity cost, the point is whether the marginal benefit is worth it or whether you're redirecting resources that could be better used elsewhere
