Dunno, I think of this as a team effort. E.g. Pueyo explained things better than any expert (or journalist) I'm aware of.

True. But seriously: Those who could be considered experts have also had wide spread ideas (which is no surprise). But e.g. Ioannidis coming up with overly, IMO irreationally optimistic guesses like 10000 ppl, then < 40000 ppl dying this year was not helpful.

Of course ppl who wanted to hear such things just took it and rely on "it's in the ballpack of the flu" saying "that's the estimate of true experts, not fake-experts like XYZ". I think what many people need to learn: When a scientist uses "might" or similar it has a reason.
