Yes but covid is pandemic. It's going everywhere. And if healthcare systems are overcome, other illnesses will fall under the radar. Please stay safe.

I know that. It's a public health risk but by no means my biggest health risk. However if I can't get to a hospital with my biggest health risk it's a problem. I agree

The problem is that you never know how serious your covid case is going to be. It's like Russian roulette. Of course, the risk of dying increases with age and commorbities But there is also the risk of permanent damage/ long term illness.

I have seen one reasonable agttempt at an estimate that it (on average) approximately doubles your chance of dying. But of course that varies by age and comorbities. Since my chances of dying this year were tiny I dont care if they are doubled

I'm certainly open to the possibility. And I realize it's a possibility. But people pretending like there are accurate studies about the long-term effects right now is driving me crazy.

There aren't studies yet. But there are signposts that suggest the damage done by sars-cov-2 is more complex than "I'm fine" or death.

I think there's two sides tho - we know that long-term hospitalization (and mechanical ventilation) have very serious long-term impacts on health. The additional problems unique to SARS-CoV-2 are what we are really unsure about

I don't disagree with that. I can come your direction theoretically if that's the focal point

I think we have sufficient data at this point to conclude that there almost certainly are long-term risks unique to COVID. The question is how many people are impacted and how long will they last

I totally agree on this. I am looking forward to seeing the results of in-depth research on the issue.

Please share the data that supports that statement. And I'm not being snarky.
