This tweet seems out of character. Perhaps I am misinterpreting but “Reopening the economy” and “everyone dying” is not what’s on the table. Reopening the economy and more people dying unnecessarily is though, which is reason enough to be cautious.

I did engage in some dramatic hyperbole lol, it's just frustrating for people to continually misrepresent the situation as a choice between health and the economy

It's a ridiculous false dichotomy to pretend that the virus would've had no economic impact outside of government restrictions. As if a worldwide pandemic wouldn't have had any impact on consumer confidence without govt intervention

How many cases of depression and anxiety that could harm people for life or kids ruined education do you think it's worth sacrificing to stop another person bring hospitalized with Covid19?

Ridiculous leading question. Can you demonstrate that a single case of depression has been caused by govt intervention that would not have happened without?

Beyondblue experienced surge of calls yesterday as 300k locked down into their leper colonies. Just collateral damage I guess?

1) anecdotes aren't data 2) no comparison 3) absurd emotive nonsense You cannot link a single case of depression to govt action. There are numerous cases of depression plausibly linked to COVID, however

So how long would you like people locked up for and kids denied education? Europe is now a more open place than Melbourne even though more deaths and cases.

More collateral damage? https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/07/02/world/europe/uk-coronavirus-domestic-abuse.html … surely we need to be honest about the horrendous 'side effects' of lockdown ?

Let's turn the question back around: what might happen if we open up?
