In other news it’s easier to drown in 12 inches on water than 6 inches of jello.

For older people. Not for children. The flu kills almost a hundred times as many kids as covid.

Comparatively in children, where both risks are low, maybe flu is riskier. But where COVID is riskier, the death rates are huge. Not sure how it all factors out once you add on that the average COVID death loses just 3 QALYs!!

The argument Ive been presented with often that I dont know answer to is “overall, yes, it is much more deadly but in kids and people under x years old, especially if previously healthy, IFR is the same between covid and flu”. Any truth to this? Gut tells me no but cant find data

Yup Nobel laureate Michael Levitt showed this in February & why no second wave, deadly as 2017/18 Flu, the virus will be less deadly as it spreads, CFR and that the Gompertz curve theory fits whether or not there was/is a lockdown.https://twitter.com/mlevitt_np2013/status/1274783930030403588?s=21 …

Hard for me to miss Twitter as paper comes together; just a few more days. Sweden's excess mortality is almost exactly 490/million found for EuroMOMO (476/million). Worrying UK is double at 972/million. How accurate is @FT? I found Switzerland much less https://www.bfs.admin.ch/bfs/de/home/statistiken/bevoelkerung/geburten-todesfaelle/todesfaelle.assetdetail.12987231.html … https://twitter.com/FrankfurtZack/status/1274630374140805122 … pic.twitter.com/tsrLVJhqph
