I have a good friend who works in public education administration, and he's told me that he believes collective effort of (wealthier) white parents staying in public schools would be hugely beneficial

those parents bring resources to the schools: they donate money directly, help with fundraisers, their children can change classroom dynamic in big ways...the list goes on, and the list convinced me but unlike "defund the police"—this requires immediate personal sacrifice

Worth noting that there's actually minimal evidence that private schools actually result in better outcomes.
