& to your larger point: yeah. I remember being taught so many hard-and-fast rules that come from nowhere: you can't strength train the same muscle two days in a row. You can't put your knees past your toes when you squat. You need to go to failure on every set or it doesn't count
I went from a 30kg deadlift to 120kg without ever touching a protein powder or making any specific changes to my diet. Probably going to have to start steaking more soon tho
