Similarly, the "no human-human trx" was actually "no EVIDENCE for human-human trx" which, at the time, was not an outrageous thing to say. They updated pretty soon after when it became clear that there WAS evidence

It would have been helpful to recommend reduced travel or isolation after travel earlier on.

3 was the obvious goof. With 2, I think they didn't adequately explain the limits of the evidence at the time. With 1....that's a China-WHO discussion I'm too tired to have right now :)

Sure, but that's the problem with polls! And yes, but the point is not "what was the effect" it's "were they making the call based on best evidence" surely? There will be many issues that are, in hindsight, easy to criticize, but that's not the same thing I think
