Worth noting that while this is an astonishing story of scientific misconduct, the best evidence we have excluding this study still suggests that hydroxychloroquine doesn't work for COVID-19

We still need bigger RCTs to be sure, but if you go by current best evidence it's quite likely that HCQ has either minimal or no benefit

And for those politicizing a drug, all I can say is that it's very silly and you should stop it

Absolutely shocking. And at the same time, how did this get past peer and editorial review?

I called up an old friend who was a coauthor of a paper that issued guidelines regarding precautions on Hydroxychloroquine. I was surprised that HCQ data on Rheumatology patients was not quoted. Apparently they hadn't reviewed the data before issuing scary recommendations.
