I'm more worried about the 1000s of dodgy papers published in no-name journals that will probably never be retracted but nevertheless impact science and policy for years to come

Particularly those that get a guernsey on social media and in the press, and acquire quasi legitimacy that can never be dispelled

Yep, I’m not so much concerned with the journals as I am with the behaviour of fellow scientists. Never surprising but always incredibly disappointing. The product of perverse incentives.

I think everything we're seeing is a microcosm of what usually happens, but sped up. Always some fake/bad science, but it usually takes a decade to go through publication/suspicion/revision/retraction rather than a month
