I’ve heard people saying that The Lancet isn’t peer reviewing submissions due to Covid but that can’t be true. I’ve gone to the journal and asked but in the meantime can any scientists and researchers clarify for me? Surely that can’t be right.

I don’t know about Lancet but I thought a lot of COVID work was being published extremely quickly out of necessity to help peope which has sometimes involved temp dropping peer review but it’s declared

Are you confusing pre-prints (BioRxiv, MedRxiv - not peer reviewed before posting) with publication in journals? I’d be very surprised if journals like Lancet were dropping peer review. They may be trying to speed it up though...

Yeh I'd be shocked if Lancet and similar dropped peer review entirely. What I've seen publicly announced from similar places is 'expedited' peer-review, which seems to usually mean 'within a week' or something
