Two schools in the eastern suburbs closed today due to positive COVID tests. While frustrating, it makes sense to proceed this way: targeted closures which leave the vast majority of schools open, avoiding the educational, health and economic costs of across-the-board closures.

Downside to sending kids back to school is a relatively large possible contact network and the ensuing disruption with self isolation etc. The size of the network is likely very sensitive to how schools operate in this new environment and lessons will be learned in this process.
