Fair comment. Sadly, they did the experiment and took the hit on behalf of the rest of the world. We can naively hope that rest of the world has learned from it. It appears at least some countries have looked at this as basis for first steps of loosening restrictions.

Oh totally. We all called out the BS weeks/months ago while the policy disaster was in progress. I'm just doing my best to resist the very real urge to yell out 'i told you so'. I have a few Swedish friends and I can sense a bit of embarrassment among them. It is what it is.

Worth noting though this wasn't purely a "we looked at the evidence and changer our mind" scenario. The evidence was coming in earlier, and the rhetoric was adapting to this, not policy. Strong denials of a 'herd immunity policy', shifting of goal posts etc etc.
