I don't want to be in the position of defending Ebright, but you cut the part about my comments out the story. No, the tone was thus because the whole thing was clearly a shit-show all around. We didn't know the full backstory. Though there were plenty of clues.pic.twitter.com/38Lgj10Gfa

Our article was not defending Ioannidis' research or position, we argue that academics should not engage in bullying, name calling, & ad hominem attacks by the hundreds, even if they do not like the ideas/ work (even wrong ones) of other academics Is that really controversial?

I'm not sure it's worth re-litigating all of that, but it does seem to me that when the authors ignore peer commentary and take to the Ingraham Angle to promote their problematic work, the calculus of decorum shifts somewhat.

Our issue is that if academic disagreement gets so personal and so political, we are doomed. It's worse than Covid. Stanford authors deserve to have their study gutted, but not the personal attacks. That is a slippery slope even if they go on bad TV shows.

Wait criticisms (even personal ones) of the authors of one paper are worse than 85,000+ deaths? You can’t be serious.

Wait again, does your profile say you’ve been a Sars-cov2 expert since 2017?

He also, once upon a pre-pandemic time, thought it was just fine to bully science communicators who focused on debunking myths. He thought that should be beneath legit scientists, but COVID has seemingly changed his mind as he deleted those tweets. He's something special.

This is a hilarious standard response. You can't just refer people to some tedious waffling every time you say something ridiculous and people call you out on it
