Has anyone asked why are we developing a Vaccine for a Virus with a 99% survival rate?

Measles has a survival rate of 99.8%. Pertussis (whooping cough) is even closer to 100%. A 1% death rate is actually enormously high, especially given the fact that death is not the only bad outcome we're worried about

Of course, measles and pertussis are bigger worries for children - pertussis in particular tends to kill infants <6mo - so vaccines are still vital, especially as they are effective and extremely low risk
