The NIAID remdesivir trial that's been reported everywhere showed a decrease from 15 to 11 days in "recovery" from #COVID19
Here's how they defined "recovery" after switching the primary outcome. Is this reasonable?pic.twitter.com/fnnYqZvMA5

I mean, I'm not sure that I would agree that someone who is still hospitalized - but no longer requiring oxygen - is "recovered", or that someone who has been sent home but has significant limitations and/or oxygen is "recovered"
Relevant obviously. Is it fair to call them "recovered"? I don't think most people still in hospital would describe themselves as recovered, nor would their doctors (happy to be corrected)
Right, but what does that mean? Not requiring supplemental oxygen is pretty black and white, but "ongoing medical care" might mean quite a few things. This is why I really want to read the study itself
I mean, they're still hospitalized, so presumably there is ~some~ level of care being provided. Unless there is a large proportion of people being kept in for observation despite being entirely well? Seems unlikely, but that's why we need the study
Right, but I'm not saying moving someone from ICU to a ward isn't significant, I'm asking whether it's fair to call that "recovered". Their original outcome actually gave more weighting to someone moving from ICU to a ward
