The NIAID remdesivir trial that's been reported everywhere showed a decrease from 15 to 11 days in "recovery" from #COVID19
Here's how they defined "recovery" after switching the primary outcome. Is this reasonable?pic.twitter.com/fnnYqZvMA5

I mean, I'm not sure that I would agree that someone who is still hospitalized - but no longer requiring oxygen - is "recovered", or that someone who has been sent home but has significant limitations and/or oxygen is "recovered"
Depends on how severely ill the patients were prior, surely. Stepping down from simple face mask to no oxygen, but still in hospital isn't a huge 'recovery'. But from intubation, down to zero supplemental oxygen, even if still in hospital is huge.
Right, but this is the main outcome measure - it's not gauging how far they've come on the scale, it's saying yes/no "recovered". Their old scale accommodated that uncertainty, this gives you a binary outcome instead
Yeah totally agree. What I want to know is why the prim outcome was changed in this way 2 weeks ago. And are they still going to report the results of the SAME ordinal scale as a secondary outcome.
We don't know why, but yes they still have that original scale in their methods
