Sure, but every drug has side-effects. For example, the drug was discontinued due to respiratory failure in 7 patients taking remdesivir but only 1 in the placebo group

They don't give a detailed explanation, but I'd imagine that discontinuing the drug (i.e. ending participation in the trial) is the more extreme measure here, and any respiratory failure is "serious" by definition I think

Based on the fact that clearly many of the reported "serious" adverse events did not lead to drug discontinuation. Could also be an indication that many people had respiratory failure, but it was perceived as tied to the drug in these people
