I used their estimate (after some feedback from the authors) of 0.6% (0.2-1.3) as it was the IFR estimated for the general population of China, corrected for age

Good that they're responding. I worry that all / most of the people you are citing are relying on the same assumptions, not fully validated. Given that the detected fraction changes the results a lot, you get a large correlated error that meta-analysis doesn't / can't fix
