What is the number one piece of advice you would give to an epidemiologist preparing to speak to the press? (Asking those of you who have done it but also those of you who consume media)

- Pick 2 or 3 main talking points - Practise talking to a ‘normal’ person (Ie. Someone outside of public health or epi). - Respond to q’s with a statement - never say ‘yes’ or ‘no’, as these can’t really be used for short grabs - if on TV, don’t nod. Keep hands in lap.

It’s also helpful when you do get interviewed to watch / listen to it several times & critique. Then you can pick 1 thing to not do next time.
