Haircut Anticipator Retweeted Malcolm Turnbull  💉 💉

If ever I did a PhD I'd probably do it on the weird phenomenon where sometimes a politician will leave public life where they were obviously required to hold an otherwise indefensible opinion, but they continue afterwards to hold it despite no obvious reason.https://twitter.com/TurnbullMalcolm/status/1245996727494041606 …

Okay. One more time. If Labor’s plan had continued half of australia would still be on ADSL. Thanks to our plan the NBN is almost finished. Over 90% can get 50 mbps and almost all can get 25 mbps. 1/2

Leaving aside the significant numbers of people who had better connectivity on retail ADSL than what they now have on the NBN, what is "almost finished" is a completely inferior product, in many cases no better but just "different" to pre-NBN.

Would we have a 50% fibre NBN? 70%? Done? 15%? Fucked if I know. Too many variables. But for the prodigious amounts of money spent I do know that the state of the Internet in Australia is not meaningfully different to what it would've been if nobody did shit at all.

I am a medical professional delivering telehealth to regional areas, living on the outer suburbs of a large regional centre. I had to tell my kids to turn Netflix off so I could stay connected to a 14 person audio only meeting today.

I live in inner Melbourne and get 12 down/4 up on NBN. Zoom meetings are a special circle of hell at the moment!

I live in an apartment building that was built for the few weeks that the ALP had the reigns and all new developments had to be fibre. The GPON is in my wife's closet.

      I pay for a 50Mbps plan. If I bought 100 I'd probably get a little bit less than 100.

I have FTTP through TPG, not NBN. Regularly have 100Mbps down 40 up even at peak times
