I see. Then how do we arrive to the conclusion that "you probably don't need a mask for covid"? Shouldn't it read "No one knows if masks protect communities from Covid, although in theory they could?"

I tried to explain that with the rest of the piece. YOU probably don't need one, there may be a benefit if everyone wore one although this isn't certain, however given that potential benefit is likely to be small and masks are in short supply you probably don't need one yourself
