One of the best parts about writing this article was finding dozens of stock photos of people completely misusing masks unintentionally, which made it really easy to see my arguments
Also, I'm sure it'll get on your goat @cherryblack and @trentyarwood

I don't understand the section "Masks Probably Don’t Prevent Infections In Community Settings". If the point of masks is to prevent you from infecting other people, how would monitoring the person who wore the mask allow for the above conclusion?
-
This is part of the confusion I think. That's why I had point 3 first - there's not really much evidence about you wearing a mask to protect others, but there's quite a bit of evidence around wearing a mask to protect yourself

I think I'm missing something in point three... "If you wear a mask, and then cough or sneeze, you don’t spread droplets." Ok. "However, this isn’t the primary way that these diseases make their way around the community." 1/?
-
"More likely is someone coughing into their hand and then touching surfaces. Or coughing directly onto those surfaces." This seems to contradict the previous points in the paragraph. What's the distinction between spreading droplets, and spreading droplets onto surfaces? 2/2

The word "probably" makes me a little nervous.

Then it's probably a good idea to minimize interaction with scientist. They have a thing for probabilities
