"Masks stop respiratory droplets sometimes!" is a ridiculous exercise in surrogate outcomes
We KNOW that masks are unlikely to prevent community acquired infections. THAT'S what we care about, not some statistics on particulate movement #COVID19

Because people get mad about anything mask-related, some links to read before you righteously claim that they MUST work https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/15/2/08-1167_article …https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25858901

AT BEST we can say that there's very low quality evidence that highly adherent mask use may modestly reduce the likelihood of infection for people wearing them, although this has not been demonstrated in the majority of trials

Replying to @GidMK
But Macintyre et al, who you cite, show a significant reduction in infection: the main problem being that people do not consistently wear the masks? And review papers refer to the absence of trials, not to those trials showing ineffectiveness?

They found some evidence that adherent mask use may prevent infections, but it was contingent on incubation time and likely ineffective for COVID. And I think that, while the SR was very careful, we could argue that a ninety of negative trials is pretty good evidence
