The DNA analysis is based on 20+ peer reviewed genetic association studies that identified specific genetic variants as either impact susceptibility to Coronavirus or risk of Coronavirus infection progressing to severe illness. The analysis also includes non-genetic factors.
Sounds interesting, can you send on the references?
Here’s an example of the results. The genetic variants are listed near the bottom of the report in the DNA Data table and include Pubmed link outs to the relevant studies:https://sequencing.com/dna-apps/coronavirus-dna-health-report/example/child-increased-genetic-risk …
So, looking at the references this all basically vague inference using 1 or 2 SARS studies. You should at the very least be clear in the report that this is incredibly uncertain and may not be a reflection of true risk in any way
There are more than 20 genetic associations of SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 used. Not sure where you obtained your “1 or 2” studies from. See the DNA Data section near bottom of this example report:https://sequencing.com/dna-apps/coronavirus-dna-health-report/example/adult1-multifactorial-risks …
Each association is supported by, as I said, 1 or 2 studies. I had a look at the references you cite, I would personally not feel comfortable giving anyone any advice whatsoever based on those findings
We see you’re a cat person (cute cat, by the way!) while most of us on our team are dog lovers. Two different personal perspectives. You don’t regard these studies as valuable while we definitely do. To us, preliminary studies better than none due to urgency of pandemic.
Not what I'm saying at all. Valuable, sure. Gives you even close to the amount of information you'd need to sell people genetic tests and tell them about their coronavirus risk? No
The report is free for the 40 million people who have already taken a DNA test from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeirtage, Dante Labs, etc.
