...while not getting flu shots...of course media doesn't help... Tonite I heard we should: -stock up on food - get a 2 week supply -make sure all prescriptions are filled -think about working from home -avoid large gatherings.
-
Those are all reasonable suggestions if there's a current outbreak in your area, but I think it's more about preparedness than anything. Just be ready to make some changes and monitor the situation imo

I generally agree with your health takes, but this is way off. Smoking is an old, well-characterized, fixed set of risks.
#COVD19 is a novel risk of unknown severity, with the potential to “blow up”. Our natural fear heuristic is built for these kinds of risks. -
The lethality of the virus in smokers is higher compared to non-smokers. Therefore it makes sense to stop smoking now. Just to be on the safe side.

I disagree. They understand coronavirus is a multiplicative risk. Your month-on-month risk of death by smoking doesn't increase thousand-fold in a matter of weeks. Fear of tail/dread risks are essential for survival. You only have to be wrong once.

If you're ever interested to know just how terrible people are at understanding
#risk, just look at all of the people who are panicking about#GMOs while holding a#cigarette in their hand -observed this a lot in#Europe and#Japan! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
