Interesting this says nothing about severity, not is severity part of official definitions, but WHO in press conf overnight did mention severity is a factor in declaring pandemic?
Apparently this is outdated anyway, but my understanding is that 'pandemic' is almost entirely about spread of disease and has very little to do with severity of the illness
Yes exactly. My understanding too. And nothing about severity in WHO's online resources. Plus was speaking to infectious disease types, who say severity not a factor...
Yeh I'm pretty sure severity is not important, but my feeling is that the WHO is shying away from the terminology because it invites mass panic which so far has been unhelpful
