Does it make sense that by Kardashian-index, to have 10,000 twitter followers and *not* be a Kardashian, you need to have 150,000 citations to your pubs?

The Kardashian index is imo dumb white-tower nonsense. Any PhD student with more than a handful of followers is almost guaranteed to be a Kardashian, it's just academics feeling self-righteous about what constitutes "success"

I agree. Joke or not, it comes off like a way for some to try and prove that docs who don’t publish enough yet have a lot of social media followers are somehow less important and must be distinguished by the so called “K-index”. Just my perspective from a “non academic”

Ugh it's all such wank. As if you can't be right without citations!
