Lol that's true of virtually every epidemiological finding as well, most are supported by plausible hypotheses. Always fascinating when people who don't really know what epi is bag it out

It's like the climate change deniers getting mad at climate scientists because they don't like some of their conclusions - the same basic methodology is used for many things, the fact that you don't like some doesn't make it less robust
