Apparently everyone wants to know my opinion about sugar today, so I'll remind you that it's not addictive and that there's no good evidence that it's any more harmful to you than any other source of excess calories

There are a few studies out there - in general, while there is some very modest support for food 'addiction', in a sense, it is better correlated with highly-processed foods than sugar specifically i.e.https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0195666317304099 …

That's the idea, although imo even the construct of "food dependence" is a bit dubious. Highly complex question
