So you’re telling posts that say HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! based on *one* early estimate of R0 (and later mistakenly called this the “most virulent virus the world has ever seen”) maybe aren’t the most trustworthy source?

I love how epidemiology is never about infectious diseases and epidemics until the impending doom of a pandemic and every epidemiologist becomes an outbreak expert. Grumble grumble..

It’s the reason I’m trying to get my information from actual infectious disease experts rather than any old “Harvard trained epidemiologist” but I understand why the lay public could be easily tricked by such authority

Agreed. I've personally been wary of offering any opinions - new and emerging diseases are very complex!
