I feel uncomfortable about enthusiasm for ‘innovation’ in medicine, since it seems to imply that most developments are beneficial. In reality, many are neutral or harmful. Easy to forget that we have a responsibility to find out which is the case.

I worry about when companies try to expand the indication for a drug by designing a clinical trial in such a way that it is likely to show a benefit but where the risk of harm is not insignificant.

After several medication scandals in France, scientists recommended that people only take drugs that have been on the market 10+yrs (if available). That way, all the real-life "testing" will have been done. The cost is also much less.

True dat as lots of harvesters of abducted tribal kids from mexico really are not all that concerned about the latest stem cell resolutions or laws passed by the very ppl paying them to take them to usa illegaly to the chop shops. I see ur point.
