Study is here. Seriously, it's mostly just two scientists discussing how well curcumin appears to have killed cancer cells in petri dishes:https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/11/10/2376/htm …

And here's the big issue with that - for every 100 compounds that are proven useful for killing cancer cells in petri dishes, only 1-4 are actually useful at treating cancer in peoplepic.twitter.com/I1citCZ4li

Apologies, I was wrong here - the review did include three very small human trials, none of which evaluated cancer survival or progression

As an example, one study looked at people with advanced pancreatic cancer, and found that pretty much all of the people had cancer progression while taking curcumin (but with no control group, so no comparisons made)pic.twitter.com/OSKOFOTwjS

This is probably a simplistic take, but wouldn't most anything kill cancer cells in a petri dish? I'd probably know this if I hadn't avoided life sciences in favor of physical sciences.

Assessed 5000 studies?? No exclusion criteria?

-
Well, it was a narrative review so technically no, but they only cited a handful of those 5,000

Turmeric is cheap and accessible, so, never.

I reckon it's also just gross enough (in large quantities) and vaguely exotic to most people making it tick all the boxes for things that people *think* medicine should be
