The popular perception of energy drinks as 'dangerous' is built on THEIR OWN MARKETING If you want to beat them at their own game, recognize that Red Bull etc are basically no different from very sugary coffeehttps://twitter.com/GidMK/status/1213934104200151040 …

God I hate headlines like this I'm currently drinking a 'regular' coffee, which contains 2 shots of espresso, and ~215mg of caffeine That's MORE than these terrifying energy drinks contain! pic.twitter.com/I8CwGqDzsD

Most energy drinks are some mix of these five ingredients: 1. vitamins/herbs 2. caffeine 3. sugar 4. water 5. really good marketing teams

I'd be ~shocked~ if alarmism like this does anything other than boost Red Bull's bottom line Kids LOVE dangerous-sounding stuff, it's like Teenagers 101

Exactly, the main issue lies with the co consumption of energy drinks with alcohol where people can get much greater than the RDI of caffeine (getting blind and slamming down 10 espressos in a row is much less likely) or athletes combining energy drinks and caffeine supplements

Also, I've noticed that while older teens use a drink of alcohol in their system to "go berserk" for adolescents, it's the energy drink that gives them permission to go a little wild. How about just going wild without excuses, like the good old days? ;)
