Interestingly, there is good evidence that you can lose weight with exercise The problem is, to lose ~2kg over 6 months you can either diet a little bit or exercise hours more per week 🤷‍♂️https://twitter.com/CakeNutrition/status/1204183969337675776 …

Pretty garbage approach. We know trying to "outrun" poor diets is a futile effort. Focus on healthy eating patterns, stay active & enjoy life.#rdchat #MondayMood https://twitter.com/tednaiman/status/1204181569608601600 …

For example, in this RCT people went from no exercise to 3 gym classes a week + personal training every second week for 6 months, and lost just 2kg on average https://annals.org/aim/fullarticle/736439/effects-aerobic-training-resistance-training-both-glycemic-control-type-2 …pic.twitter.com/fm8QaGN26i

Id want to lose a lot more than 2kg in 6 months! Try 2kg a month! And not (for me) go as long as 6 months as I only want to lose maybe 6kg total

Yeh that's the problem. You have to exercise SO MUCH to lose relatively small amounts of weight, so usually it's ineffective as a weight management tool

This is easy to grasp. You can work off about 300 Cal per hour. You can eat about 3,000 Cal per hour.

Robert Ross' studies show that matched for caloric deficit, exercise is equal to diet. Caution with interpretation required due to high drop out and analysis of completes only though. It took 1 hour a day, 7 days a week to achieve it.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/10896648/ …

That's pretty much it - 7 hours extra jogging a week to lose the same amount of weight as 700Kj restriction a day!
